unattatched inode 262739
i have just installed red hat 7.1 and i get it to start loading and when it gets to the usb startup it says:
checking root file system / contains a file system with errors it then performs a check and then it fails and says: unattatched inode 262739 can anyone help with this? |
Not sure what exactly that means, but I am guessing that if it happens straight after the install then:
a). You may need to try to re-install b). You may have a corrupt HD. BTW, when you installed, which filesystem do you use, ext2 or reisierFS. I would try to use the other during the re-install, just to see what happens. |
This is just a guess on what's happening:
inodes contain information on where the actual file data is located (pointers). To be able to address larger files, inodes can be cascaded. Might be that your inode was such a cascaded one and it lost its parent... means: one file is corrupt. If your system is still running it is probably not a vital one. So I think re-installing should fix the problem there are probably even tools out there, so you can find out which file is affected and delete it and so free the inode. |
