uname command empty


when I run the command 'uname' with or without a '-a' option I dont get any output at all. How do I set the kernel name?

I don't think so. I have a Fedora 9 machine and the uname command is always there. What is the output of the following commands?

which uname

file `which uname`

rpm -V coreutils
Just to be sure the uname executable is not damaged or the uname command is not aliased.
