unable to use xwindows after installation of ymessenger

Hi,

I have a system running RH9 and yesterday installed Yahoo Messenger, when i tried to log in again I was unable.

I get a graphical login screen and root runs a window manager fine, however as a user I just get a blank screen with the mouse cursor in the middle and the window manager doesnt load. Mouse clicks have no effect.

I think this problem relates to changing permissions on some files that need to be accessible. I have tried changing /tmp and /var/tmp back and i have moved my .gnome/.kde directorys in case the problem was related to these... no joy though!

Any thoughts?

Thanks,
T

What type of installation you used to install ymessenger (RPM, Standalone..)
Is it a multiuser installation or single ?
