Question Unable to use GUI Scheduler on ubuntu desktop 10.04

I am pretty new to this world of linux and recently loaded ubuntu 10.04 on an older laptop to get a feel for using a GUI version.
I would like to setup a recurring job schedule to start sound recorder or Audacity. I would prefer it was from a graphical user interface but would do it with a cron if I could get started.
Thanks in advance
