Post unable to update suse 11

I use proxy server for internet connection and whenever i try to update my suse 11 it says server not found check you internet connection . I use fireofx for surfing and it has no problem in connecting to internet. I am given a user id and password which i have to enter when i try to connect to internet.I think my problem is that update manager is unable to find proxy server which asks for authentication for connection

Run this command from terminal.

export “http_proxy=http://login: password@proxy_ip: port_number”/
It should work now. If any error copy it.
