unable to telnet to port 25

Hi,

I am trying to setup the CommuniGate Pro mail application as a POP3/SMTP mail server. I have completed everything, and I can recieve mail but I can't send. When I try to telnet to port 25 it states connection refused.

I have installed the app on a Linux suse 9 OS.

I have done an nmap, and found port 25 to be open.

I'm a bit lost !!!

Do you mean that you can't send to your server or that your server can't send out?

I can send mail from the Linux server but the windows client's cant send mail.
If I telnet to port 25 from a workstation or the server to the servers port 25 it
doesn't connect.
