unable to switch from console mode to desktop mode
 
i m installing ubuntu 10.04.3 server and i m unable to swtich from console mode to desktop mode.......any solution......

Does the server release of ubuntu even come with a desktop? I didn't think it did.

Hello,

Ubuntu server does not have a default "graphical" mode. If you want an X server, either download a standard Ubuntu distro, not server, or install it via this link - http://www.ubuntugeek.com/install-gu...tu-server.html

No, follow the link in corp769's post, it is a guide for getting a gui in ubuntu server.

Out of curiosity, why do you want/need a gui on a server?
