wen iam tryin to install any software using fedora 8 's package manager iam gettin this error

unable to retrieve software information

in details iam getting this

Cannot retrieve repository metadata (repomd.xml) for repository: development. Please verify its path and try again

may be is the development repository down, now the development cycle of fedora 8 is closed ?
if you don't really need of development repo, disable it (yum --disablerepo=development yum-command-as-usual)

it did not solve my problem..
is neone there who knows whts the problem..is there problem with yum configuration or something....
i guess its searching on internet rather than the dvd for the repositories..
can neone tell me wats the problem..and how it can bbe solved..
