unable to ping yahoo.com and also fire up moxterm


i am able to ping rac1 from rac2 and vice versa on my terminals but can not ping yahoo.com on both. I am trying to use mobaXterm and despite having the ip address propably mapped it will not get on. Thanks for your help

Hello and welcome to LQ.

Mobaxterm terminal ought to replicate a combo of the windows shell and some elements of bash shell.

Since you say mapped then I can't guess. To ping a website (and ping is generally useless) you would need some name resolution and ports open and an ability to use external connection (gateway).


Now you didn't say this but what computer are you actually at? The xterm window on windows or a remote system?

I would say you either have no Internet access on the systems in question, or no name resolution. Try to ping 8.8.8.8.
