Unable to open .deb-files?
Hi all, sorry for creating another thread, but the last one changed its subject (and I guess it was my fault :P) but anyway:
I'm using Ubuntu 5.04 Hoary Hedgehog and can't open RPM-files, or install them might be a better description... Then I got the tip to use Alien to convert them to .deb-files, which should make it work. But Ubuntu still can't open/install them, and I don't get any error messages, just, nothing. Nothing happens at all, what to do? :-/ This problem appeard then I should install newer GPU-drivers for my ATI-card, and it appeard once again, when I was about to install alsamixergui through .deb, because it didn't work to download it with apt-get. Thanks alot and I appreciate any answers. /Linus Waerner |
dpkg -i whatever.deb
or install rpm from source and force rpm installs without dependancy checking |
Thanks alot mate! :D :D :D
By the way, can you or someone recommend anything that helps someone like me to explore Linux and help me to find the brightest sides of it, it would be fun, for example, to know common commands and easy stuff  |
