Unhappy unable to mount root fs on 00:00


hello all :

well am new @ linux , and i have typed this command
fsck /dev/hdc2
so i got confirmation message to confirm the command ,
i ws like yes
and i reboot the system and got this msg

please append a correct"root="boot option
kernel panic: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on 00:00

so can any1 help me with that as long i cant log on the system

Okay, that didn't make an awful lot of sense, so start from the beginning. Where are you using this command? What distro are you using? What have you changed since your last boot?

It looks like you've changed your bootloader stuff

am using this command in the new terminal window

am using redhat distro

and i have changed nothing since i did this command ,

but as i said am new with linux and i was watching thiis Nuggets ,so they were talkin about this command and i hit enter after that

i appreciatet ur help caz i really need it as long i cant log on the system
