unable to modify files on hda1 using live cd


ive got a malware file on my ntfs hard drive i need to delete its mounted to /mnt/hda1 i can get to the file but i cant delet it. i get access denied even if i try to just rename it. in fact all files on the hard drive do the same thing. any ideas?

NTFS write support isn't well supported under Linux. There are third party tools that might help, but I haven't used them...

To my knowledge support for writing to NTFS partitions is typically not enabled in the kernel. Also, I'm not sure if all kernel sources have that functionality. I'm assuming you are trying to remove the file from the NTFS partition because you say you are trying to delete malware from a "NTFS hard drive." With that said you might have to enable NTFS write support (possibly have to patch a kernel). I believe at this stage it's still experimental. I would advise that you do some research on it.Hope this helps!
