Question Unable to locate network printer

Thanks for reading and taking the time to reply. I have the Canon MX-420 printer driver installed correctly, but the system is unable to locate the device on my network. I probably have entered the wrong socket name - any suggestions?

The Linux system is running in a VirtualBox on a Windows 7 machine. I put the network address ( of the printer in the socket address box, installed the printer drivers, and I get a message telling me the printer is busy when I try to print a test page. The firewall and other services are configured properly?

How is your printer attached to the network? Are you using a print server built into a router? Are you sharing this printer from another system? Etc..

Give us some more info on the topology and then we can take some basic troubleshooting.

This reminds me of an USAF complaint that I once read:

Problem: "Number three engine missing."
Solution: "Engine found on right wing after brief search."

Details in your problem description will help us give you the right answer and not give you one of those
