I have WinXP pro on my computer and I want to load ubuntu. When I try
I get the message: /bin/sh: can't access tty: job contro turned off
(initramfs) I don't have a /bin/sh folder because nothing is loaded. I have gone through all the bios and didn't see anything labelled tty or job control. Are you booting up from a Live CD? (Ubuntu now comes in 2 variants--live CD and an old-fashioned install CD--I think they call this the "alternative" CD.)

Regardless of which CD you are using, tell us exactly where in the process you are getting the error message.
