unable to install rhel, " only detected i686 CPU"
Hi guys,
nice to meet you i am having a difficult time to install RHEL 6.1/6.3 here's the error msg: "this kernel requires an x86-64 CPU, but only detected an i686 CPU. unable to boot - please use a kernel appropriate for your CPU." here are my: asus ap140r-e1 chipset i875p rhel 6.1 or 6.3 CD are okays since i can install them on vmware on my desktop unable to find VT in bios, but it is currently running ubuntu, with some loadings file i can see vmware is there currently it is running ubuntu installed by someone else, i dontknow the password thats why i need to reformat to rhel. *i know there is alot of post regarding this error message, but ALL of them get this message when they are installing by virtual machine i am installing this using boot from CD, not VM any helps ? thanks in advance |

No, you can't run a 64 bit OS on a 32 bit CPU.

No you can't use your 32 bit os as an 64 bit. Because 32 bit processor cannot contains more number of chunks. But 64 bit processor can handle larger number of chunks of data. This is to perform the RAM process. |
