Unable to install Open Suse 12.1 in Dell Inspiron 1525

I recently got the disc of Open SUSE 12.1 and when I was trying to install it on my Dell Inspiron 1525 I was unable to do it.When I clicked Installation option then It showed Installing Linux Kernel and after that there was a blank screen and it stopped at that only.
:-(

Could you give us a quick overall of the hardware of your system?

Could you please attach also an output of `lspci` ?

Also there are guides for version 11.3, maybe you can have a look on some of the common issues :

The thing is that I installed open SUSE 12.1 on my friends laptop few hours ago..and there was no problem in installing it at all..I am just clueless that why its happening to my laptop only..

jefro 01-09-2012 02:38 PM

I'd verify my download the the opensuse iso. Then I'd burn the image on a good quality or best quality cd/dvd and at the very slowest speed. It is best if you burn the disk on the drive you want to boot from also.

Booting to anther system doesn't prove this system is reading the disk correctly.

Did you ever have any linux on this unit before?

Be sure to have more than 1G ram to install from gui.
