I am very new to linx and need your help.
I am facing the problem as below:

I have HP Pavilion dv2500t notebook with OS Genuine Windows Vista Home Premium. through srink, i got 11GB of free space. Now I want to install "Red Hat Enterprise Linux ES" to this machine.

I am unable to install the linux. It is not able to detect the driver.

If you have knowledge on this, please share with me.

To install OS, you need to boot the CD/DVD. Change your BIOS setting first to boot from CD.

Be careful, If your disk doesn't have partitions, you can install red hat but you'll lose your vista

Let me welcome you to the world of Linux..Congrats. I want to take this chance to give you some general tips to help you get quality responses in these forums.
1.Always state the problem as clearly as possible with the error messages that you get
2.Start with a more user friendly distribution like Ubuntu or Open Suse
3.Scourge the forums before you post. Most of the times someone has gone through your situation and someone must have helped him out

Now to specifics...if you have 11 Gb that is more than enough..change your BIOS settings (in the boot sequence)to boot through the DVD/CD and boot with the medium. You will then need to specify th size for the OS and swap..allocate 2 gb for swap and the rest for the linux OS. Remember there are no drive letters in Linux..drives will start with SDAx...Use ext3 file system
I have installed open suse on similar hardware in less than an hour.

Dear Sailend: Which RHEL version are you installing? If its 3 i think it wont work.

Reason: for some new hardware the SCSI support is not available in old Linux versions. e.g old version will not have device driver for your SCSI disks....

Solution: Try some new versions of Linux: RHEL 5, CentOS5 or Fedora 6, 7 etc...
