Unable to install HP p1102w printer on Lubuntu 14.04

I'm running a fairly new install of Lubuntu 14.04 however, am unable to get my HP p1102w printer to work. (The printer is connected via a USB cable and is suppose to be wireless capable). I have installed the hplip-3.14.6.run file from the HP web site however, Lubuntu still does not recognize the printer.

Is there someone that could help me? I'm a real NEWBIE and am totally stumped as to what to do. Thank you!

Steven

OpenPrinting suggests using the foo2zjs-z2 driver rather than hplip. You do need the HP ppd file, tho.

After you downloaded hplip*.run, what did you do?

HPLIP is in the Ubuntu repos (Software Center). It would be best to install it from there. Then as root run the command hp-setup in a terminal.

Alternatively, also install the HPLIP GUI (hp-toolbox on the command line--it's normally a separate package) and use that to install the printer.

frankbell, being a complete NEWBIE, I'm lost. I downloaded hplip-3.14.6 and tried to copy it into an open terminal window but I got the message "Unable to install HP p1102w printer on Lubuntu 14.04". I then assumed I was in over my head. Sorry, but I guess I need some more exact step by step information.

Thank you.

smallpond, I downloaded the foo2zjs-z2 driver and unpacked the files. Exactly how do I install these files? Do I copy these files into a terminal window and if so, what is the exact entry I should use?

Thank you for your help!

Anyone willing to provide a few details to a NEWBIE to make a HP p1102w printer work with Lunbuntu 14.04?

Thank you.
