Smile Unable to install DHCP rpm

Hi,

I am using rhel5, i was facing difficulty starting dhcp, so i thought on uninstalling and reinstalling the dhcp rpm. So i uninstalled it but now when i try to install dhcp 3.0.2, it asks for dependencies. When is try to install the dependencies one by one they fail or the website don't have all dependencies. So i located dhcp-devel3.0.5 and dhcp3.0.5 on my rhel5 dvd, and even these fail to install. Could some one suggest what i could try?

I thought Red Hat had yum package manager that takes care of dependencies.
Have you tried using it to install dhcp? ---> yum install dhcp

Maybe use google to help you set up repositories, then it will work.

Hi,
For an unregistered RHEL OS.. not a single update manager works.. The sad thing is, you'll have to install all dependencies manually one by one, which is a headache i know.. RHEL uses up2date update manager.. which works for registered and paid users.. They don't maintain any free repos officially..

If you are using it as a desktop and for personal learning purpose, and having problems in update and upgrading manually... Fedora could be a best solution to switch..(I might be wrong) ... Coz that's free to update and maintains repos round the globe through mirrors!!

Cheers!!

Code:
[baig@wazirkutz ~]$ su -l
Password:
[root@wazirkutz ~]# chkconfig --list dhcp
error reading information on service dhcp: No such file or directory
[root@wazirkutz ~]# chkconfig --list dhcpd
dhcpd 0:off	1:off	2:on	3:on	4:on	5:on	6:off
[root@wazirkutz ~]# service dhcpd status
dhcpd (pid 2948) is running...
[root@wazirkutz ~]# service dhcpd restart
Shutting down dhcpd: [ OK ]
Starting dhcpd: [ OK ]
[root@wazirkutz ~]#
This is what my box tells me about dhcpd.

What about yours? Though I don't know about CentOS but I hope basic config commands are same everywhere in LINUX.

Cheers
