I'm sure you have a good reason for using FC3, but still, I would like to know why? You do realize that Fedora 8 (F8) has been released. FC3 is way past its End-of-Life/Support.

Anyhow, with respect your problem, it looks like your system did indeed detect your Broadcom NIC, however it would appear (from the error you are getting) that the eth0 interface is not being set up. This is probably because you are missing, or have not loaded, the appropriate driver for your NIC.

You need to find out exactly what type of Broadcom card (or chip-set) you have. Maybe if you run "dmesg" you find this out. Then determine if your kernel provides the driver. You may also have success finding a driver at Broadcom's website, but whether this driver would be compatible with the aging FC3 kernel is another issue.

ajeetraina repl from fred

Dear jet,
it seems that your question has been answered but if problems persist upgrade to a later issue.Do you regard the present one as a challenge? Might as well change to the shell and have done with it! Could be a modem problem but then oncce your IP address is established the that is it, ie, will work on anything, providing it has version 4 access.
