But my speaker hasn't produce the sound ( I am using external speakers). I can play youtube videos, games and things like that, during this time my speaker will produce the sound.

But If I try to play mp3 songs from the net, It hasn't produce any sound. I can't hear the sound using head set also for this mp3 songs.

What may be the problem please help me ?

=> Using external speaker and head-set

Same problem in windows 07 too. 2 days before it has worked perfectly. But I have done some changes in sound setting in windows, Then this problem started .. Still I am confusing .. I can't play the song in both side ( ubuntu and windows) after done that changes.

Hi, If you get sound with utube and games, then the soundsystem works.

I suggest you find and install lame for mp3 on GNU/Linux as well as M$win7 <edit>(but it might not have any effect on win7)</edit>.

Hope this helps.

Have you installed the "restricted" codecs? By default, Ubuntu doesn't come with the ability to play audio files that have been encoded in a patented format (such as MP3). See this page for more info.

I don't know whether I have installed this restricted-codec or not.
But After installed the OS (ubundu), I have played some video files from checking the sound all, It has produced the sound perfectly.

But now only I have tired to play mp3, But it hasn't work.
I will check, If its not there I l installed it..
