Unable to hear from mp3 CD's...

greetings !

I think I'm missing something in here or doing something silly.

I've Linux Mandrake 8.1 and trying to play CD's thro' CD-player and XMMS.

I mounted the CD thro' Kwikdisk - no errors.
Able to see the files( thro' file-manager/shell )
Audio-CD plays well
On the same drive if I put my mp3 CD I don't hear a peep !

can someone tell me why ?

-thanks-
shankar.

a regular audio cd doesn't need to be mounted - using cdplayer or Kwikdisk will mount or access the cd as needed - but mp3's aren't the same format as regular audio cd's - they're just like any other regular data file.

if you're able to see the files through file manager, then you need to load the mp3's like they're on the harddisk. you can just go in through xmms and load the /cdrom or /dev/cdrom directory, whichever your distro uses, and the mp3's will load.
