Hello all,
As you've probably guessed I have a Kernel Problem, my some-what possessed p3 450, 128mb running Debian Linux has had a long running problem with it's on-board graphics, some infinitely more intelligent person, than me, suggested that I put a new video card in, which I did a 3dfx 16mb card, and proceeded to switch off the on-board graphics in BIOS, I've come out of BIOS and it all loaded fine graphics very nice, still in text only loading then WHAM......

I don't really know my stuff hence I'm a NewB, I would guess that it might have something to do with not installing any drivers for the new video card. :rolleyes:
Some help would be REALLY appreciated, I want to get this computer working, my friend says I should just bin it :eek:
Also if someone could point out what part of that lot was actually the important thing to report, that would save some of my vision and time, or if it's all important stuff, please it would be very helpful for me and for reporting any problems in the future.
I haven't touched anything else and won't until someone suggests something. Once again many thanks. :)

Right. I suggest that you go back to the old hardware configuration. Then compile the support for your new video card into a new kernel which you install as a second kernel. Set up your two kernels as a dual boot system. Then you can boot into whichever kernel supports the graphics chipset that you are using at the moment.
