Unable to get screen saver working.

Gooday all, my first post on this site. Greetings from the land down under.I have asked the question elsewhere and have yet to fix my problem. I have KUBUNTU 7.1 (I think) and am unable to get the screen saver to work. Any help appreciated. James.

screen saver

Not familiar with Kubuntu, but KDE desktop should allow screensavers. Check these:

Check under KDE control panel configuration>look 'n feel>screensavers

Some distros come with limited screensavers and must be downloaded.

Are you asking for a screen saver that requires 3D acceleration and is your graphics card capable? Try different ones.

Thanks for the reply. Yes I am trying for 3D and it should be supported. But I cant get any of them to work. IE no screen savers at all.

Wavemaker, I am running kubuntu feisty, and you can configure the screensavers by right-clicking on the desktop and choosing Configure desktop...

From there, in the selection on the left, choose the screensaver option. One thing to make sure of is whether or not the checkbox 'Start Automatically' is checked, and set the time to deploy. It does work for me.

I don't have experience with 3D acceleration, so I can't be of help there.

Thanks for that. I have done all of the above and still no joy. I have been told that it is an issue. I will get it sorted eventually. Thanks again.

Yes, I have Kubuntu 7.10 as well, and though the screen savers "work" if you click the Test button in the settings, they never start automatically (which is what a screensaver's job is). I'll have to hunt through the bugs on Launchpad, or create a new one for this.
