it can help if you give eth0 a ip adress ,i use 10.0.0.0
for getting on line on adsl or cable you can use the roaring penguin
rp-pppoe client software ,if you look on internet you will find some rpm
from it.install first rp-pppoe and than rp-pppoe-gui
you can start it whit command tkpppoe the first time only as a root.

Hello Tiger OC and all replies to my query, I have configured the adsl
connection and have carried out all the checks, it is stable and behaving
unbelievably good. I did lose faith, at one point I was going to format
my disk but now that it is working I can continue to improve the system.
I still have the sound card to configure, but with an internet connection
and all you wise people out there for support, nothing is impossible.
I have learned an amazing amount of information over the past few
weeks which will always be useful to someone in the future.
