Unable to find package socket.io

on beaglebone black with debian I've tried

apt-get install socket.io

but the package does not appear in any of my sources.list file repositories. Github seems to have socket.io but not sure how to modify sources.list to get at it.

OK, sorry but socket.io was for npm; but I was able to get that installed after updating npm; but thanks for your time. I thought for sure that I didn't have the sources.list set correctly, but I was wrong.
