Unable to connect to net..

This is my ageold problem. I am using WinXP and RHEL4.0ES. I can connect to the net thru windows but failed with RHEL. I am using broadband. smartAx MT882 ADSL router, intex rt8139(?) ethernet card. RHEL is unable to detect the eth card. dmesg shows no eth0. Even if i see the ethernet card in the internet config wizard it is unable to activate. Can anybody solve my problem? Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeese.
