Unable to connect to cisco console with minicom
Hi,
I am a relative newbie to Linux - using RH9.0 currently - and although there are several posts on this topic (which I have read); I am still unable to get minicom to connect to a cisco router through the serial port of my IBM 600X Thinkpad. I have gone through the minicom serial settings and set it to 9600-8-N-1, and turned off hardware flow control. I have tried the serial device as ttyS0, ttyS1, ttyS2, ttyS3, ttyS4. When I save the settings as default and exit I get a blinking cursor only - no "router>" prompt. Hitting Return a few times yields no results either. Can anyone shed some light on what I am missing here please. I'm sure it's something simple, but it sure is making me crazy... Thanks, Nick |
check you IP, subnet mask and gateway settings
if there correct do a loop back test to insure serial is functional |
