unable to connect my modem
hi guys,
i am from india . i have a LG RD5130 mobile for internet purposes which is working fine in windows but creating problem in linux. In Mandriva , it is detected but when after entering username and password it tries to connect ,after some time there is a message :
cann't connect.....see log for details
but in log file /var/log /messages i can't see any thing significant
while on other system i have fedora core 5 OS . in this system there is a message
No com ports on your computer
while in same sytem internet is working fine with windows with modem connected on a USB port

I'm new to Linux so I may be totally off, but here is my response anyway. I'm using ZenWalk not Fedora, but I had a similar issue with a USB NIC. It defaulted to eth0 and USB was found on eth1. All I did was switch and it worked fine. Don't know if that would be the same for a modem or not, but it might be worth a try switching.
