You don't actually tell us what you did...saying "I have done the same" tells us nothing. What version of Firefox? Did you try reading the documentation on Firefox? Are you running this as root?
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb...istory-firefox
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how

Also, why are you using RHEL for your desktop system for web-browsing??? Since you've got a 'certification', you should know that RHEL is for servers, not desktops.

You could delete your firefox profile and start over in Firefox.

John VV 02-17-2016 02:44 PM

you clear the history the same way for firefox 44 on ALL versions of linux and MS Windows

it is the same for every OS

you clear it from the ff preferences

if you put the "top" menu BACK ( ff hides it )
/edit/preferences/privacy
and put a check in "clear history when firefox closes "
and click on the SETTINGS button next to that

hey TB GURU,

How are you? After long time, i think every one knows who are using Firefox how to delete web history, for that also you need documentation that is silly and version is not much required to delete web browsing, as a linux user everyone knows except you that you can do anything as root.

Who told you that RHEl is only for servers, for your kind information RHEL is not only for servers you can use it for Personal use, as a PC. Last but not least one question you don't know the basics, but how you will become GURU ?????

Try using Bleachbit.

In the future, run Firefox in Firejail private mode.

Or use Tails.

And again, if you had bothered to tell us in the beginning what you did/tried, we wouldn't have to guess, and try to direct you to answers. All you said in your first post was "I have done the same"....what, exactly, do you think we can guess from that??? And you ARE aware that different Firefox versions have different bugs/issues, so just saying you're using Firefox tells us NOTHING. This is why you were asked for details...yet you still don't provide them. Read the "Question Guidelines".

as a linux user everyone knows except you that you can do anything as root.
And apparently, your 'certification' isn't worth too much. If you're logging in to the GUI as root, everyone knows (except you, right?), that that's a bad idea. Also, if you're logged in as a 'regular' user, and run firefox as root, the GUI won't launch, since X is running as a different user. Again, if you open X to other users to 'work around' this, everyone knows (except you, right?), that that's a bad idea.

And there are MANY things root cannot modify/delete/change, despite what you think. Try reading the man pages on chattr/lsattr some time, to find out how you can create files root can't change/delete/modify.

RHEW, as in Red Hat Enterprise WORKSTATION is for PC use. RHEL is designed for SERVERS, and always has been....Red Hat's own website covers it, and the differences between the two. I think they probably touch on that in the 'certification' classes.

I apparently know more than you do.

...which appears to include knowing how to ask a question. Your initial question said "i want to delete all my web history, i have done the same". Then you follow it up with this, which should actually be "how to I clear my Firefox CACHE DIRECTORY". You do that by (amazingly!) clicking the "Clear Now" button in the "Cached Web Content" section. Or, you can just remove all the files in that directory. Pick one.
