Unable to boot RHEL 4 from installer CD and DVD.

Hi,

Once I boot the installer CD or DVD, the monitor displayed a interchanging colourful background with blinking colourful symbols and then it went black/blank afterwards. I'm totally lost as there are no error messages to search solutions for and I don't have much experience in linux installations.

This is the specifications of the workstation that I used:

Processor: Intel Core2 CPU 6300 @ 1.86GHz
Memory: 1Gb
Video: Intel Broadwater-G Graphics Chip Accelerated VGA BIOS
HDD: 160Gb SATA

The workstation has an existing Window image and the HDD is partitioned to 20GB and 140GB as NTFS.

I've also tried on a notebook which encountered the same output.

Thanks for the reply.

I tried to replace the memory with 128MB RAM and realized it doesn't fit into the memory slots.

Anyway the current RAM that I'm using is SAMSUNG 1GB 2Rx8 PC2-5300U-555-12-E3. Where can I search for linux hardware compatible list?
