Unable to access the network in Fedora core 1

I am in a network, I receive the net through a gateway 10.10.0.1, my ip is 10.10.11.8, with netmask 255.255.0.0. My netcard is properly detected (it'a a 3com card). I ran redhat-config-network and typed the ip and netmask, and it dosen't seem to work (not even to ping another computer in the network, it replies: Host unreachable). Is there some special config tool I need to run ? any help would be appreciated

Can you ping 127.0.0.1 OR 10.10.11.8 ?
if you can your problem is probably with your 'Default Gateway' (or lack of)
use redhat-config-network, In the devices tab edit eth0 and check the default gateway exists and points to the next hop on your network.
