Hello amartlk,

please provide more information. Did you ping the IP-adress or the DNS-name of the computer?

If you've pinged the DNS-name, please try to ping the IP-adress and tell us if this works.

If you can't even ping the IP-adress, please tell us more about your network, a short draft would be useful.

hi

i have 2 lancard eth0 and eth1 in proxy server in centos eth0 connected to local lan and eth1 connected to broadband connection of internet , we have iptables rules has forward internet traffic from eth0 to eth1 , but recently we configure new broadband connection , here we configure adsl modem in centos , we keep modem in dialup mode and keep eth1 lancard in automatically assign mode , i configure internet but due to dial up the isp static ip assign is not assgin to eth1 it created ppoe connection where the isp ip is assigned , but in my iptable we have rule to transfer traffic from eth0 to eth1 but how i make rule to transfer traffic from etho to ppoe (virtual lan) created by dial up internet

Hi,

I found this (they say homerouter, but it is similar to your network) http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/home-router-howto.xml and http://www.stanford.edu/~fenn/linux/

Another point, I think that you question is more related to "Network" than to "Linux-newbie", I'd recommend that you use the report-Button at one of your posts and ask a Moderator to move this thread to the "Networking"-Forum here: http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...-networking-3/

Hopfully this will help you.

I refer links , but unable to find solution , when i connected adsl modem then ip is assigned to ppp0 not to eth1 (lan card where isp link is connected),as i have ip fowading enable where internet traffic is from local lan (eth0) is forwaded to eth1 same rule is also added in iptables.we are able to access internet but some site are not opening and we are unable to ping any site like google etc, i have centos 5.3 installed
