Umount difficulties
I'm having real difficulties umounting my CD-ROM drive. It just ignores me and claims to be busy despite the fact that I cannot find anything at all that is using it. I've tried killing everything in sight. I'm loath to reboot because, well, I'm a stubborn little shit. :D

Try
$cd / to make sure you're not trying to umount while you're still in the /mnt/cdrom folder. Just a thought. Dave |
if you have other shells open, then they could be in the /mnt/cdrom folder and then you won'tbe able to unmount.
Also, if you were in /mnt/cdrom and the you su-ed, Linux still considers that you are in the /mnt/cdrom directory. Remember to cd .. from the /mnt/cdrom directory when youare finished. There might be a way to make all the shells leave the directory, but I haven't found it yet. hamish |
