Ubuntu won't install on my computer
I just downloaded the latest version of Ubuntu and placed the .ISO on a bootable CD using Nero, I then placed the cd in my computer changed the boot up order in BIOS, but it still won't work! :(
It says something around the lines of "Adress A20 already enabled" and then if I press any button, my computer goes blank.. am I supposed to extract the .ISO before placing it on the disk? what is happening? |
Welcome to LQ!!
Did you use the "burn from image" option? To check, insert the CD into a running system and see if you have multiple files and folders. If there is just one (the .iso file), then you fell into the common trap. Otherwise, verify that the computer will boot from some other bootable CD. |
Hello and Welcome to LinuxQuestions,
An ISO is an image of a CD, you don't just place it on a CD, make it bootable and burn. I don't quite remember Nero but there should be an option like Burn Image or Burn Image to CD. Insert a blank CD into your drive and just choose the option Burn Image if it's called so. Don't to anything else. Then boot from the CD. Kind regards, Eric |
Thanks for the fast response guys! I am about to see if that works because now that I look for it, I see an option to burn an image. I can see now that I am going to enjoy this place :D
