Ubuntu to Kubuntu Problems

I have been using Ubuntu for a week and getting on well with it. After reading reviews I decided to try Kubuntu. I installed it from the terminal and all seemed to go well.

Now when I start the computer and select ubuntu it goes to a log in screen. I type in my user name and password and all I get is a terminal screen in the top left. If I close this I go through a 'broken screen' and back to the sign in.

Help

Ubuntu doesn't play nice when you are using more than one desktop environment. It's very easy for one of the DE's to break.

You would be better off backing up your important data and doing a fresh install from the Kubuntu CD. Be advised that Kubuntu is one of the buggier KDE distro's out there. PCLinuxOS or Debian + KDE offer better KDE experiences.
