Ubuntu taskbar costumization trouble
hi there...the reason Im opening this thread is because Ive been trying to customize the bottom taskbar because right now it looks like a windows's one and I want it to look kind of like the mac's style....NOTICE THAT I SAID KIND OF!! xD...by this I mean I want it like bigger and with big icons on it...this is very common I think...could anyone help me??...I tried installing themes....but didn't work

Dude, on the Desktop, right click and goto Desktop background. In that, goto appearance/taskbar whatever and set them to your preferences. You could figure out these things yourself, there is no need to post such simple things. Sorry if I am too harsh :)
|
I already went there but there just appear the following options: theme, background, fonts, interface and.. visual effects
|
Oh, I think you are using Gnome. Then, just right click on the taskbar and goto properties.

You mean to say, to change the looks? Like transparency etc.? They are all there. I use Debian too, and I was able to change it.

no thats no what I mean...look, my taskbar/panel looks kind of like this right now: http://www.jse-euskadi.org/agrup/jsv...nes/ubuntu.jpg but I would like it to look a bit like this.. http://joined.se/~jeroen/screen/screen2.png

Yeah, I am back after Lunch. I shall have a look and post back at you.

Well, the second image is corrupt and I can only see the top taskbar. Anyway, what I can see is that, he has Beryl installed on it. You can install Compiz-Fusion on your Ubuntu to make it look a lot better. The effects are brilliant! I guess, you can just apt-get install to get that package.

OK. Check out the last two screenshots of my desktop. I did this just by editing the properties of the panel! Doesn't that look nice?
|
BUt if I wanted it to look like this...http://www.gnome-look.org/content/preview.php?preview=1&id=70284&file1=70284-1.gif&file2=70284-2.jpg&file3=&name=Dark+Ice+Emerald how is that possible??.....
|
That is avant-window-navigator, not gnome-panel.
|
