Ubuntu Studio verses ArtistX Which is Better?

I am looking at getting Compiz Fusion going, and both Ubuntu Studio and ArtistX have this, but more to the point, I will have to learn this, I am a newbie, and my mum moreso, it will be for her, a photo buff... nostalgic.

I can teach her... but also need a good out of the box experience.

She also loves to surf the web and I like this, and do word processing...

Any advice? All I know is what I read from Distrowatch, and from the websites, brief look.
