Ubuntu: slow navigation in folders, slow visualization of photos, blocks....

Sorry for my poor english...

I'm a noob in the Ubuntu/linux world, but I have installed Ubuntu 4 months ago for try it.

After few days I used only Ubuntu and not more Windows. I was happy.

But now I have seriously problems with it, and I want back to Windows.
This is the problem:

When I open the folders for navigate to my files, the system go very slow, the desktop became gray, an when I open a photo it take more seconds and blocks the others programs that are open.
The same happen when I try to save a picture from Gimp or other programs, or I havo to open files into programs.

I have tried to disactivate compiz but was the same.

Did you have any solutions? please help me :confused: or should I go back to windows to work

Did you install any new packages around the time the problem started?

Did you make any changes to the system around the time the problem started?

If you open a new user account, and log into that new account, does the problem occur there too?

Does your System Monitor show any processes using unusual amounts of CPU when the problem occurs?

Yes I have installed different packages and make changes, but don't remember what and how many.

When I open a picture, i see that the Eye of Gnome use the 100% of CPU at some times!

Let us know when you have the answer to the other question (you've answered three out of four).

I have made a new user and entered with it...
that's great! Ubuntu works very fine!!
I can open the pictures in a moment and shows all in row with no problems! I have also activated compiz and all works perfect too.

now I see that the system monitor show that all progress use very low percentage respect the older user.

When I came back to the old user I have all the problems, block, very very slow to open folders and pictures...
I see that system monitors show to me that "nautilus", "gnome-panel" and "eog" use very high percentage of CPU, over 30.

How can I do?

Well, in that case you will need to spend some time investigating what is causing your account to behave differently (for example, by comparing GNOME configuration files with the properly-working account). Another option is to forget the investigation and just backup your home folder and then nuke its contents and reboot so that you can start with a fresh setup.
