ubuntu server: change mysql port & phpmyadmin

I have 2 questions about changing the mysql port:

1)I changed my mysql port by editing the "my.cnf" file.
But there were 2 default "port 3306" entries.
One under "[mysqld]" and one under "[client]".
Do I change both entries, so the one under "[mysqld]" AND the one under "[client]"?

2)After changing the port, I installed phpmyadmin: "apt-get install phpmyadmin"
After installing phpmyadmin, which files must I edit in the phpmyadmin settings?
So far I have found these files which have port settings:
\etc\phpmyadmin\config-db.php
\etc\phpmyadmin\config.inc.php
\etc\dbconfig-common\phpmyadmin.conf

I'm working on a remote VPS, so I only can do it through terminal.

Thank you!!

Hi,

1.
[mysql] section is for mysql clinent and [mysqld] section is for mysql server .
In order to change the port the server listens on you have to edit port value under [mysqld] .

2.
It should be : \etc\phpmyadmin\config.inc.php
