Ubuntu Server 20.04 LTS crashing on install

I'm trying to install Ubuntu server on Hyper-V and every time it crashes. The only thing I see on screen is "generating crash report" and then it will restart about 5 seconds later.

I don't see an option to view the crash report. (I wouldn't know how to read it anyway)

I've given it 2G of ram, 20G drive space, made sure secure boot is unchecked, tried a gen 2 VM, then a gen 2.

Any ideas?
Thanks

You may not know how to interpret hypervisor crash reports (and I probably wouldn't either, at least not without doing some homework), but others here could likely help with that. I think it's might be worth your while to look for them. I am confident that they got stored some place.

I did a web search for "hyper-v crash report" and did not find much about Hyper-V log files on Linux. If you running it on Windows, this article might help: https://www.altaro.com/hyper-v/an-ov...-v-event-logs/

I didn't find much helpful regard the logs on Linux, but I'd start looking in /var/logs.

It's the stand-alone hyper-v server that I'm running it on.
I was able to install ubuntu server 1804 with no problems, but ubuntu server 2004 still crashes.
It never gets installed in the first place. Would there be /var/logs files to look at?

It may have slipped under the radar because of this, but the classic network installer images (now called legacy) are still offered by Canonical for 20.04. Try the mini.iso from there. See this explanation in the Installation Guide.

The last official supported version at MS is 19 and they did have fully optimized versions at the Hyper-V Gallery.

So ideas...

Did you fully test iso download?

Did you properly provision it?

See this for some tips. https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/win...nes-on-hyper-v
