Question Ubuntu Question

Well I've recently installed Ubuntu on to my laptop and I'm trying to find out if there's two different version for 8.04 like one for your home computer and one for your laptop. I try to connect wireless and it doesn't pop up. I go to system and networks and I see LAN network and computer to computer network but that's it. So is there two different versions or do I need a driver? Thanks for reading.

The Mad Hatter.

No there isn't a specific laptop version. Details are important if you want help.

What wireless card do you have? Knowing this helps determine what driver module the card requires.

In a terminal window enter the following commands and post their outputs here.

lspci

lsmod

ifconfig

iwconfig
