My best advice is that you make a choice and start with one. If it drives you crazy, you can always reload with the other one
Yep. One thing about Linux is you can always load another distro over the previous one. Some here, I get the feeling, do that almost daily . I on the other hand, like using an LTS now and stick with it for years. I've settled on the LTS from Ubuntu (KDE) for my use. There might be 'missing' apps in the Ubuntu repositories compared to Debian, ... but I haven't ran into any of them! And Ubuntu has been 'solid'. Very reliable (for my systems -- laptops, servers, and desktops).

Anyway, bottom line, you have make your own choice. The reason there are many distros is everyone has different tastes and needs. Not one 'exactly' fits all. {edited } Unlike M$ Windows where you are forced to use their UI (like or lump it), pay a price for the privilege, get forced updates, and then have the gall to make you setup an account with them too to use it.... .

I'm with you, I'm using KDE Neon, which is an Ubuntu derivative, extremely similar to Kubuntu.
