Hi,

I recently installed Ubuntu on an external hard drive (connected via USB). Upon reboot GRUB comes up with the options of Ubuntu or Windows XP. No problem there.

However if I have my USB drive unplugged I get a GRUB 21 error and cannot boot into anything!

I understand this to be because Ubuntu has overwritten the boot record on My C:drive and it now looks explicitly for the removable hard drive.

Is it possible for me to set this up so that if the external harddrive is removed Windows boots up as normal and if it is plugged in I can use Ubuntu?
