Ubuntu on an imac 24

Hey guys,

i have an ubuntu live CD (7.04), which has succesfully booted and installed onto a seperate partition on my computer (i got sick of windows, and wanted something new ). However, no matter what i do i cant get my damned computer to detect the drive when i hold alt on startup, and disk utility doesnt know what it's looking at. does anybody know of any way i can get my computer to boot the install i have? TIA for any help u give!!!

did you install grub to the mbr?
