Ubuntu not loading STuck at Grub

Hi All,
I am using ubuntu10 and upgraded to 12.04.
After first restart it worked fine.
But when I started it on the next day it stuck at Grub.
It is not accepting any keyboard input and even not loading automatically.
It is showing the Ubuntu generic mode and Recovery mode but not accepting the selection.
I tried starting with live USB but no use

I want to use my system ASAP.

So please help me out.

Thanks in advance

Did you upgrade from 10.04 to 12.04?
Were there any changes made in hardware/software after you initially booted?
What happens when you select "generic" or "Recovery" from the boot menu? Any activity? blank screen?
Is Ubuntu 12.04 the only operating system you have?

Thankyou for replying Regarding Grub issue

Hi All,

I am using only Ubuntu OS.

Its not accepting the keyboard input.

Its showing GFenetic and Recovery mode for ever.

Its not taking any input.

I tried with USB but still stuck at that.

Some one suggested me to try with another harddisk.

I will try and let you know the status.

Thanks

In your initial post, you said you upgraded from Ubuntu 10 but did not indicate if it was 10.04 or 10.10 and you still haven't responded to that. You should be able to upgrade from 10.04 to 12.04 per the Ubuntu site but will likely have problems going from 10.10 to 12.04 as you would need to upgrade by steps of each version.

You also did not answer whether there were any hardware changes or any software changes after the first reboot?

So what happens when you highlight either choice and hit the Enter key?
