Ubuntu Live Usb Problems after using Update Manager
Hey all
This is my first post and I'm new to Linux, so I've started with Slax 6.0.9 and Ubuntu 9.10 both on live USB they both work great

the issue only issue I,m having is for some reason the live USB doesn't like a certain file (or more) after being updated

when I use the update manager I try installing all the recommended software, then when I boot up Ubuntu I get the boot Options, I choose to load without any changes to computer, after that nothing happens and it never loads

Please help

Hmm, I guess the update manager does not really update your usb-version of ubuntu properly. The easiest solution is of course to just wipe the usb and load a fresh ubuntu onto it.

If you want it to work properly I'd suggest you'd try a dual boot. It's very straight forward to setup. You basically just choose dual boot in the graphical installer, and how much disk space you want to assign to ubuntu.

Hello Tom,

That did it. I did install a couple of times before and it did the same thing. I kept on using the same ISO for every re-installation but I didn't realize that the ISO was the problem. I downloaded a fresh ISO and It worked great. I'll look into dual boot next.

Aah, great! Sometimes it's so much easier to solve something than you think (such as downloading a new iso :P)

Don't forget to mark your thread as solved under thread tools at the top of the thread.

Good luck with dual booting!
