I never used any distro of linux before. So I tried the Ubuntu Live CD. It will load at about 10% and give me the message:
<0> Kernel Panic: Fatal Exception in interrupt.
In interrupt handler - not syncing.
So...for some reason I pop in the installation CD and begin to install Ubuntu. After the "installation" of the CD My computer restarts, continues the installation, and freezes at:
* Starting hotplug subsystem...
It stays at that, and I have no idea what to do. Any working OS on my computer will be fine at this moment.
Another problem is with the evaluation edition of SuSE 10.0. I've tried installing that and it installs the first disc, restarts and never asks for the 2nd-5th disc. Just gives me the options of a new installation or an update.
My Windows XP CD is broken.
