Ubuntu (pronounced: Ooh-BOON-too) has just released a Live CD which I just tried out and really like. Ubuntu is a Debian-based distro that has a lot of Debian developers working on it.
It has Gnome 2.8 and was a snap to load. Easiest Debian-based distro I've ever tried.
The iso and bittorrent is here:

I downloaded the iso from the Ubuntu servers at over 450kb/sec, so they have snappy servers.
note: I'm not affiliated with the Ubuntu community in any way. I was just very impressed with this Live CD and impressed with the Ubuntu philosophy (
http://www.ubuntulinux.org/).
I've tried out a tonne of Live CDs (Mandrake, SuSE, Knoppix) and distros. I'd be interested to hear what people think of this Live CD. I think this might be the first *real* easy-to-use Debian distro that newbies will like and find easy to work with. And with the huge Debian repositories of packages, you can get anything and never have to worry about dependency hell.
