Ubuntu installer getting hanged with large hard drive
I am new to Linux.
I am not able to install Ubuntu 9.04 64 bit on my new machine with below spec
Mother board - Intel Desktop Board DG45ID
Processor - Q9650 3 Gz
RAM - 4gb
HDD - Segate 1TB 7200 RPM
The Ubuntu installer is getting hanged after starting the installation process. The installation progress bar stops at "Partition formating.." . This happens when I give large partition for /home. I tried with 400gb and 800 gb for /home partition, but both failed. But I am able to install sucessfully with 50gb /home partition.
Same thing happened for Ubuntu 8.10 64 bit as well.
I thought the problem could be with the HDD. But I could install Windows XP sucessfully with the whole 1TB partition.
The only thing I have left out is a memmory test. Can some body help to sort out the problem????
Thanks in advance
Shameer
